Two students to attend youth exchange programme in Japan

  • DIMAPUR — Two students namely Shethilu Medeo from Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, and Iris Zomawii Lushai from Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, have been selected to attend the Sakura Science High School Programme (SSHP) in Japan.

  • An update from Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSN) stated that the Sakura Science High School Program (SSHP) is a youth exchange programme in Science initiated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and supported in India through the Ministry of Education (MoE).

  • The programme aims to foster scientific curiosity, cultural exchange and international collaboration among exceptional high school students.

  • As per the criteria set by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), Samagra Shiksha Nagaland has shortlisted meritorious students who have passed their HSLC examinations and pursuing Science stream in government schools.

  • It added that Gihukali Sema, PGT at Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, has also been selected as their supervisor.

  • Report stated that the SSHP 2025 Japan would be held from June 13 to the 21st. It added that the seven-day programme would be sponsored by the MoE and would include visit to schools, universities and various technological and cultural sites in Japan. The students would also participate in certain activities and deliver brief presentations.
