Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): Two police officers from Nagaland will be conferred with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the 73rd Republic Day programme on January 26.
Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo will receive the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Rankathung Vikram Ezung, AIGP (OPS), Kohima will be conferred with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
A total of 939 police personnel will be conferred with the President’s Police Medal for their ‘distinguished, meritorious and gallantry service’ on January 26.
Out of the 939 awards announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2022, a total of 39 police personnel from the eight Northeast states will receive police medals.
Among the eight Northeast states, Assam has been conferred with the highest numbers of police medals with 14, followed by Tripura with seven, Manipur with six medals, Mizoram four, Arunachal Pradesh three, two each for Nagaland and Sikkim and one for Meghalaya.
Out of the 39 police medals from Northeast, 31 personnel will receive the police medal for meritorious service, seven for distinguished service and only one medal -- Police Medal for Gallantry -- from Manipur.
Moreover, 189 personnel will receive the Police Medal for Gallantry, 88 personnel will receive the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 662 will get the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
