Two persons arrested for extortion

Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): Kohima police authorities have arrested two persons on charges of extorting from trucks. The district executive force of Kohima issued a press release to the media on Tuesday giving some details of the enforcement activity. On September 10 personnel of the DEF highway patrol patrolling NH 29 apprehended two persons the police said were highway robbers, from the Dzudza Hydro Bridge while they were extorting money from truckers. The vehicle used by the accused for conveyance, a Maruti Alto, was also seized. The police’s press release named the accused persons to be one Amos Poumai (39 years) from Thingbakhullen, in Senapati of Manipur; and a Hanji Yimchunger (28 years), of Zanger, Pungro, in Kiphire. “In this connection, a regular case under section 384/34 IPC R/W 7 NSR has been registered and investigation taken up,” the police added.
