The 28th Assam Rifles under the aegis of 5-sector Assam Rifles have apprehended two cadres of the underground group NSCN (K). The security force issued a press on Tuesday informing that the underground were apprehended with two Chinese grenades, a detonator, and foreign currencies, among others on March 18, at Wokha.
“On receipt of intelligence, 28 Assam Rifles laid mobile check post on the road entering Wokha from Longsa. On suspicion on a silver coloured Chevrolet Spark K car, Regd No AS 03H 1510, the car was stopped and searched. Grenades were found hidden inside the headrest of the seat of driver and co driver,” the press release stated. “Later it was revealed that the apprehended persons were Imchawapang Imchen @ SS Capt Imti Ao of NSCN (K), (Central Council Member), and Imtitongzuk alias Wapang Ao of NSCN(K). It was further revealed that the grenades were being transhiped from Imphal under the directions of Starson Lamkang SS Finance Kilonser NSCN (K) to target FCI and SF personnel,” it added.
