Nagaland’s Western Song contestant Seyievinuo Chuzo won the first position receiving a cash award of Rs.1,00,000 in the second edition of the musical reality show ‘NE Body Can Sing-2016’ held under the aegis of the North Eastern Services, All India Radio Shillong.
Also in the Modern Tribal Song Category Nagaland’s Manchai Phom won the second spot carrying a cash award of Rupees fifty thousand. The cash awards of both the categories were sponsored by the State Bank of India.
The NE-Body Can Sing is an annual musical contest held under the aegis of All India Radio, with an aim to promote and tap the unheard tunes of North East culture as well as to bring to the limelight the musical talents of the region.
Participants from all the North Eastern States contested in their respective States hosted by concerned All India Radio stations. Further, the grand finale of the show was held last Saturday at the Aurobindo Hall, Shillong, where the State preliminary winners faced a tough competition to win the title. The competition was held in the categories of Solo Modern song in any language or dialect of the respective state and Western music (Solo).
