IMPHAL, September 5: Two Manipur school principals were honoured National Award for Teachers-2015 at a function held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday. The two award winning teachers are Sinam Indirani Devi, Principal of Churachand Higher Secondary School popularly known as CC school in Imphal and Sapam Binodkumari Devi, Head Mistress of Athokpam Junior Higher Secondary school in Manipur’s Thoubal district.
The President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented National Awards to meritorious teachers from across the country on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Monday.
Meanwhile, Teachers’ Day was celebrated on Monday with ten teachers being honoured with awards at the main function organised by the State Education department at the MFDC auditorium in Imphal.Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Education Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar presented the awards to ten Principal, Principal in charge and lecturers including five lady teachers during the day’s function.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Ibobi expressed the need to develop both education and health both in government and private sectors. The time has come for everyone to join hands, detect the failures in order to develop positive ones for a better education system, he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Education Minister Dr Ratankumar also spoke on the occasion which was attended by top officials of the state schools education department and other related educational institutions.
In his presidential speech, Education Minister highlighted some of the development programmes of the education department in providing better education to the needy students of the state.
