IMPHAL, July 5: In a tragic road accident that took place in Tamenglong district, at least two persons including father and daughter died while wife, their three children and another girl passenger were seriously injured, reports said.
The incident took place when goods laden truck (MN04A-4099) fell into a deep gorge at a place located between Keikao and Salungpang along Tamenglong-Khongsang road, 25 km south west of Tamenglong district headquarters which is about 150 km west of Manipur’s state capital on Tuesday morning, reports reaching here said.
Locals’ claimed the accident might have occurred due to bad road condition of the area. The identities of the victims are identified Gaisinglung Kamei (35) of Thengou village who died at the spot while his 8 year old daughter succumbed to death on the way to hospital in Jiribam town. Among the injured five- Lujianliu Gonmei (11) daughter of Poukhondai Gonmei of Namkaolong village was sent to Imphal for treatment while the other four including deceased Gaisinlung’s wife Gaichingdinliu(30) and daughters Rose (6), Kadigailiu (3) and Gangongliu (11 months) were given treatment at the district. In the meantime, Joint Forum for Transport Welfare Tamenglong demanded construction of good road in Tamenglong.
