Dimapur, June 21 (EMN):
Two houses were completely destroyed in a devastating fire which broke out at Kumlong ward in Mokokchung and at 4th Mile Diphupar ‘A’ in Dimapur respectively on June 21.

One house was gutted in a fire at Kumlong Ward in Mokokchung town on Sunday morning at around 10:33 am. However, no loss of life was reported. The house belonged to Sentilong, said inspector of Fire and Emergency Service, Mokokchung division, Sedevizo Hibo. The officer said two fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire with the assistance of local residents even as the house was completely razed. The cause of fire and loss incurred could not be ascertained as the investigation was underway. Hibo added that LPG cylinder leakage is being considered as the reason behind the incident.

A report from Fire and Emergency Services stated that one kutcha house comprising of two rooms and kitchen was completely razed in the inferno. He added that the fire personnel had a difficult time to reach the fire site due to narrow passage. He stated that the timely response from fire team prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining houses.

In yet another incident, on receiving a fire call at 11:19 am on June 21 at 4th Mile Diphupar ‘A’ in Dimapur, Fire and Emergency Services mobilised a quick response team from Fire Station Chümoukedima and Dimapur (central) to control the fire.

Three fire tenders along with sufficient personnel and equipment were pressed into service. The report stated that one Assam-type house was completely razed and properties worth INR 70 lakh was destroyed in the inferno. He informed that no casualty was reported and attributed the cause of the fire to short electric circuit.
