Diphu, March 29 (EMN): For the immediate creation of an autonomous state for the two hills district of Assam a sit-in-demonstration was organised at Ram Lila Maiden in New Delhi on March 29 Thursday.
The demonstration was held under the banner of Karbi Anglong and N.C Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KANCHASDCOM) supported by the various social, students and political organisations of both the two hills district of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
Speaking to one of the organisers over the telephone, Khorsing Terang (Special invitee KANCHASDCOM) informed that the demonstration was from 9 am till 3 pm.
The organisers are also said to have jointly submitted a memorandum to the Union Home minister, Ministry of Home affairs, Rajnath Singh in the office of the Prime Minister for immediate creation of an ‘Autonomous State’ within the state of Assam as provided under Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution.
Also, Khorsing Terang informed that altogether 2070 delegations from the two hills took part in the demonstration. The demonstration ended peacefully with no untoward accident. Member of Parliament Birensing Engti and others leaders attended the program, added Terang.
