Two held for extortion

[caption id="attachment_185453" align="alignright" width="320"] The two accused persons in police custody.[/caption] Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): Special Operation Team (SOT) of the Dimapur police has arrested two persons on charges of collecting illegal taxes within Dimapur district on May 23. According to a press release issued by additional commissioner of police and PRO, stated that one person identified as Lapu Konyak @ Albert Konyak (20), son of Yanpok Konyak of Hiphan village and presently residing at Purana Bazaar, Dimapur, was arrested on May 23 for collecting illegal money from the drivers of sand laden trucks at New Field Check gate. It stated that SOT team had recovered cash of INR 10,000 from his possession. On the same day, SOT arrested one person identified as Khetoka Aye (26), son of Khuvihe Aye of Yehemi village and presently residing at Middle Colony, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur, for collecting illegal tax from the truck drivers at Dellai check gate area. The police have recovered cash amounting INR 15,810 from his possession. The press release further stated that cases in these connections have been registered at the West Police Station, Dimapur.
