Dimapur, Sep 6 (EMN): Violence broke out in Wokha today when supporters of two intending candidates from Wokha village clashed resulting in damage of vehicles and properties.
The incident occurred at a place called Zero Point near Wokha village when supporters of one of the intending candidates came upon the other candidate while en route to a nearby village as part of a political campaign. Some eyewitnesses reported that four vehicles were damaged and houses were damaged in the ensuing clash.
With the State elections scheduled tentatively early next year, today’s incident was the first case of elections related violence in the State. No casualty was reported till the filing of this report.
