KOHIMA — The fourth edition of Nagaland World Music Festival is all set to take place on Nov. 6 and the 7th at Khuzama Play Ground in Khuzama Village.
The music festival is organised by Kekhrie Krotho and TaFMA (Task Force for Music and Arts), on theme ‘Threads of Heritage.’
Chief Event Manager Nunese Sale during a press conference held on Saturday at Hotel Japfü, said that for the past three editions, the event was called All Nagaland Folk Song, Folk Fusion Festival, but this year they renamed it to ‘Nagaland World Music Festival’.
He informed that the categories of the competition will be group folk song, group folk fusion and solo folk fusion.

The prize money for group folk song competition would be INR 35,000 for first place and INR 15,000 for second place. While the prize money for Solo Folk Fusion would be INR 20,000, INR 10,000 and INR 5,000 for first, second, and third respectively.
For group folk fusion competition, the prize money is INR 35,000 for first place and INR 15,000 for second place.
Meanwhile, Sale notified that the participants are required to wear their respective traditional attire. Participants will be accepted on first come first served basis and that the registration will close once the projected event schedule is filled.
He also informed that each performance will have a maximum of three minutes, and the average projected slot is 15 groups/individuals per category where all participants will receive a certificate of participation.
It was announced that there will be special prize for the best male and female dressed participant.
Further, he also shared that indigenous products and traditional delicacies will be available at the venue. The Chief Event Manager noted that emerging potential performers will be given the opportunity to be groomed by TaFMA.
Meanwhile, he announced that the registration for the competition is free and also the entry fee during the competition is free. Also they will be providing free transportation to all the participants.
The competition will be held on the first day, and on the second day there will be cultural show, with participants from neighbouring states and various countries including Thailand, France, Myanmar and Nepal. He also mentioned that Thailand and France are two country partners.
He also cited that in this year's event, there will be farmers market, organised by the KESA (Khuzama Empowerment and Skill Advancement) organisation to give an opportunity to the farmers to earn their livelihoods.
