Imphal, Nov. 22 (EMN): Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel sustained injury in a grenade explosion in Imphal on Friday evening.
The incident took place when unidentified persons suspected to be ultra outfit hurled a hand grenade at the personnel of the 87th battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who were on routine duty at Lilashing Khongnangkhong under Imphal Police Station around 5.25 pm, police informed.
The injured CRPF personnel identified as head constable Jitenchand Rabha (46) and constable Yadav Munna (37) were evacuated to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital for treatment. Jitenchand received injury on his left shoulder while Yadav on his left foot,hospital sources said.
Soon after the incident, state police swung into action and conducted search operations and frisking at certain areas in Imphal. However, there is no report of any arrest till the report goes to the press.
It may be mentioned that six persons including five policemen and a civilian were injured when a bomb suspected to be an improvised explosive device exploded in Imphal on November 5.
