Imphal, Oct. 11 (EMN): Two Chinese nationals were detained in Manipur for visiting the Northeastern state without possessing Protected Area Permit (PAP).However they were released by the court ruling, according to reports.
Sources said, the Chinese nationals identified as He Xiong (32) son of He Yu Sheng of Xinshao Province, China and Liu Zhixin (37) son of Liu Hui Liang of Shekou Nanshang area, Shen Zhen Guandong Province, China, were detained at foreigner check post of Tulihal International airport for not possessing PAP on October 7, sources said.
The two individuals who work in a Chinese company in their country reportedly pleaded guilty when they were produced before a Court in Manipur after three days police remand, regarding the charges levelled against them, it added. Later the court released the two Nationals after imposing a penalty of Rs 10,000 each. They left Imphal for their further destination on Wednesday.
Police sources said the two individuals came to Manipur on Oct. 3 for the purpose of travelling and visiting well known locations in India. Though both of them have proper Visa and passports, they are also not aware about PAP issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs/ Foreigner’s Division, it said.
Citizens from Afghanistan, China and Pakistan requires prior approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs before their visit to the states of Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland.
