Dimapur, Aug. 17 : The Bhandari police personnel in a coordinated effort with the 28 Assam Rifles seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth INR 4 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection.
According to Bhandari SDPO Yanbemo Humtsoe, the two were arrested with 147 cases of IMFL when the 28 AR were conducting Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) between Merapani and Bhandari around 9.30 pm on Thur. Aug. 16.
The two arrested person were said to be travelling in one Mahindra pick-up truck bearing registration no. AS03 D3814 with the IMFL and tried to speed away. However, the vehicle was intercepted near Bhandari with the assistance of state police personnel.
One person identified as Ashumtei (23), a resident of Tsumang colony in Wokha town, was apprehended on the spot. The driver, identified as Yanpothung Lotha (32) from Tsumang 'A' colony in Wokha town, fled from the scene. But, he was apprehended by the police on Fri. Aug. 17 from Bhandari town.
A case has been registered against the accused at Bhandari police station vide BDI PS case no. 0010/18 under section 44 (a) of Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP), informed SDPO Humtsoe.
