Two arrested for extortion in Kohima

Two alleged extortionists arrested by Kohima police on May 6.

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Kohima police arrested two persons on charges of extortion from a residence at Upper Chandmari Colony in Kohima on May 6.

A police report issued by PRO of Kohima police stated that the duo was arrested following report of extortion by unknown miscreants impersonating as national from a residence at Upper Chandmari Colony in Kohima.

Acting swiftly upon receipt of information, police cordoned off the said residence. However, the two miscreants had left the area before the arrival of the police team.

After ascertaining the description of the two miscreants, the police team followed their trail and subsequently apprehended from Midland Colony.

The arrested persons have been identified as Shakulo Thong (21) of Sendenyu village under Tseminyu sub-division and resident of Merhülitsa, and Yaliezo Kuotsu (27) of Phesama village under Khuzama police station and resident of Middle Midland Colony, Kohima.

Report added that a case in this connection has been registered under section 384/34/448/506(a) IPC.
