Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): Two men have been arrested for allegedly drugging a passenger in Dimapur railway station platform, Railway Protection Force (RPF) authorities said on Monday. Those arrested have been identified as Krishna Gupta (54 years), of Manja (Sugar mill) village and Mahadev Goud (27 years) of Natun Basti (Rangapahar) village, both under Karbi Anglong district in Assam.
Acting on a tip-off, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of RPF Dimapur, AK Nath said he along with head constable, Susulemba trailed the two suspects who had arrived Dimapur Railway Station around 7.25 pm on Sunday by train no. 55902 (Tinsukia-Lumding Passenger).
“They were caught red-handed offering tea laced with drug (sedatives) to one passenger after befriending him, who drank the tea and fell unconscious” ASI Nath said.
The detained persons were frisked and recovered 179 numbers of suspected sedative Ativan tablets in a small polythene packet from the possession of Krishna Gupta along with one syringe without needle.
ASI Nath said the accused Krishna Gupta was arrested by RPF of Dibrugarh post in the year 2014 for similar activities and a case registered against the accused at Gabhrupathar out post police station.
The victim was immediately taken to District Hospital Dimapur for necessary treatment while the arrested persons were placed under RPF custody.
