Dimapur, Jan. 25: Tsungiki Village Council (TVC) has issued clarified on the news item “One arrested with illicit liquor,” which appeared in this daily on January 19, after proper verification. The name of the accused is Renthungo Humtsoe, son of late Chumzamo Humtsoe of Humtso village and not as mentioned.
Chairman of TVC, Pilamo Ezung, stated that the accused also admitted that he was moving his illegal consignment towards Mokokchung for business purposes when his vehicle broke down. To escape notice, he concealed his illegal consignment at the godown of the Sawmill, near Tsungiki Bazaar without the knowledge of the owner or Tsungiki villagers.
Meanwhile, TVC also condemned such act of bootleggers within their jurisdiction and cautioned that prompt action will be initiated against defaulters as deemed fit. TVC also informed all the concerned that council shall carry out surprise checking along the NH 2 passing through their jurisdiction in future and defaulters shall be strictly dealt with according to the laws of the village.
Further, TVC lauded the prompt and appropriate action of 28 Assam Rifles in apprehending such bootleggers in their area.
