Dimapur, March 27 (EMN): A committee for a student police cadet project led by Tuensang’s Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali Shihab met in Tuensang on March 27 to discuss enrolment of students in the school-based initiative.
The committee includes Tuensang’s police superintendent, and district education officer. The initiative has targeted two schools namely Thangjam government higher secondary school, and the 3rd NAP High School, updates from the IPR informed on Wednesday. About 40 students from each school may be enrolled in the project, the updates informed.
The student police cadet project is a school-based initiative by the Kerela police. The project trains high school student to respect the law, practice discipline and civic sense, and develop empathy for vulnerable sections of the society. It also strengthens commitment towards family, community, and the environment, enabling them to resist negative tendencies such as substance abuse, deviant behaviour, intolerance, and other social evils.
Further, the project enables education against negative tendencies such as social intolerance, and other deviant behaviour and anti-establishment behaviour. The project aims to strengthen them in their commitment to their family, community and the environment.
The steering committee for SPC along with the principal and the head master of the targeted schools along with the nodal officer of Tuensang police discussed the project plan and the course for its implementation, the updates stated.
