Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): A public rally demanding a separate state for the eastern districts of Nagaland was held in Tuensang town on Thursday. It was organised by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO).
According to a press release from the Confederation of Chang Students Union (CCSU), the president of the ENPO Kekongchim Yimchunger ‘highlighted’ the demand for ‘frontier Nagaland’ and claimed that ‘eastern Nagaland was not under any administrative establishments.’ He said that ‘as a Naga we do support the Naga political issue’ but the demand for ‘frontier Nagaland cannot be comprised or suppressed by any external force.’
‘Solidarity messages’ were spoken by representatives of the Chang Tribal Council, the Sangtam Union of Tuensang town, the Khiamniungan Union of Tuensang town, the Yimchunger Union of Tuensang town, the Phom Union of Tuensang town, and the All Ward Union of Tuensang town.
Other speakers at the rally were representatives of the CCSU, the Changsao Thangjam Satshang, and the ‘GB Tuensang district.’ The recurring theme running through all the speeches were ‘neglect’ and ‘deprivation’ felt by the people of said area; and their demand as ‘genuine.’
