Along with the rest of the nation the 6th National Voter’s Day held at CKS hall Tuensang on 25th January 2015 under the theme “Inclusive & Qualitative Participation”. The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Alem Jongshi, officials of different departments, booth level officers and many newly enrolled voters from wards. T.Y. Sangtam President USLP and Secretary RCS, Tuensang was the chief guest of the programme.
The chief guest in his speech congratulated the newly enrolled voters gathered in the programme and basing on the theme he also encouraged the gathering to initiate free and inclusive power of the people to elect the qualified and eligible candidate for the welfare of the people. Referring to corruption, he exhorted the gathering to do the needful to stop and do away with corruption.
India as a largest democratic country India puts thousands of voters to the vote bank, so the voters should enjoy their power and right to elect their representative to the government he said. Selling away the identity in form of vote is a big sin in reference to the Christian context he said and encouraged the voters to abstain from such practices.
Audio message from the Office of Chief Election Commissioner was relayed to the gathering. DBs of Tuensang presented folk song. The deputy commissioner gave the welcome address to the gathering. The AEO of Tuensang also led the national Voter’s Day pledge.
Song competition within the wards was also held and the winner of the competition was bagged by Old Medical Sector Tuensang. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by EAC Tuensang HQ, Weko Zhiemi.
