Dimapur, April 17(EMN): The Tuensang District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) conducted its monthly meeting on April 11 in the deputy commissioner’s conference hall. The meeting was presided over by the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, L Jamithung Lotha. DIPR updated on Monday.
During the meeting, DC has lauded the district’s officers for the successful conduct of the previous general assembly election. He also reminded the Public Works department to inspect the ongoing roads and drainage repairing in the districts.
The DC also announced the appointment of the Tuensang DPDB chairman, Toshi Wungthung, advisor for State Council of Educational Research and Training, Information and Public Relations, and Village Guard.
The DPDB of Kiphire held its monthly meeting on April 15 at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in the district.
Updates from the DIPR on Tuesday informed about the meeting. Apex tribal organisations of the district highlighted the shortcomings faced by the people in the area. They mentioned that, hospitals and educational system in the districts were deprived of proper maintenance.
The minister for Soil and Water Conservation, and Geology and Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam, has requested the Prabhari officer to frame specific programme that would be acceptable by the government of India. He assured that, with the initiation of the Prabhari officer and the district’s officers, the area can be ‘declared as one of the most advanced districts by 2022.’
The district’s Prabhari officer, Sanjay Kumar has encouraged the people to join hands and work together so as to move forward together. He said that there are certain areas that cannot be taken care of by the state alone such as roads, drinking water and others. He requested the respective department to make ‘radical gap analysis and learn from the best practices which can be implemented.’
The meeting was followed by the presentation of report from various departments such as Health and Family Welfare, Education, Public Works department (road and bridges), Agriculture, district Rural Development Agencies, Lead Bank, and Horticulture.
The board also deliberated on the agendas submitted by the sub-divisional education officer. It had agreed to recommend to the state government to register St. John School in Kiusam village, and to set up a primary school in Okhe village.
