The Tuensang DPDB and Pughoboto SDPDB review disaster impacts, development schemes, and project recommendations.
DIMAPUR — The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Tuensang and the Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) of Pughoboto held their monthly meetings to discuss local development initiatives, upcoming events, and disaster relief measures.
Tuensang DPDB: The Tuensang DPDB held its monthly meeting on August 7 at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference hall in Tuensang under the chairmanship of DC and Vice Chairman of the board Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa.
According to a DIPR report, the DC also highlighted a report on the damage caused by incessant rainfall across the district since July 19. The disaster left 197 houses damaged, led to the evacuation of 56 families, caused a total cutoff of National Highway 202, damaged terrace farming, and disrupted the water supply.
During the meeting, the board discussed the work distribution for the upcoming Independence Day celebration in Tuensang. The chairman also requested all departments to participate in the Nasha Mukti pledge-taking scheduled for August 18 in the district.

Pughoboto SDPDB: The Pughoboto SDPDB held its meeting on August 6 at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Pughoboto, chaired by Dr. Sukhato A Sema, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and Chairman of Pughoboto SDPDB.
On the issue of financial assistance for the maintenance of the Pughoboto helipad, the board considered a proposal submitted by the Bible Society of India, Pughoboto branch.
Acknowledging the organisation’s efforts in maintaining the helipad, approach road, sanitation, and surrounding areas, the house resolved to approach the department concerned for support, noting the helipad's significance as a public asset and tourist attraction.
The board also deliberated on the town cemetery land, which had reportedly been reclaimed by the original land donors after being earlier allocated to the district administration. The house constituted a two-member committee comprising the extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Pughoboto headquarters and the personal assistant (PA) to the DC to study the issue and submit a detailed report.
Furthermore, a proposal for the construction of an amphitheatre at the Pughoboto headquarters was approved for recommendation to the government. The project is aimed at promoting and preserving local culture, fostering unity, and providing a platform for public engagement.
The board discussed grant-in-aid to private schools, specifically Pughoboto Mission School and New Foundation School, and agreed to recommend the proposal to the department concerned.
Another major proposal approved for recommendation was the construction of a football ground at Asukiqa to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote grassroots talent.
