Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): Tsuknungakum from Nagaland won the Northeast Strongman India title in the 95+kg category, in the 1st edition of Northeast Strongman India competition on Saturday.
The first and second runners-up were secured by Siddharth Saikia and Mukti Shyam, both from Assam, respectively.
In the under 90 kg category, the strongman title was secured by Vikas Vsham from Manipur, while 1st and 2nd runners-up were secured by Lakhindra from Assam and Petevituo Livi from Nagaland respectively.
Vici Bu from Nagaland was declared the strongest man of Northeast India under 75 kg category, while Imsunungkum and Mayang Sashi, both from Nagaland, secured the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
Rahul Teran from Assam was adjudged the strongest man of Northeast India under 60 kg category, while Sumon Chetry and Gautam Teron, both from Assam, secured 1st and 2nd runners-up positions respectively.
Tamhidi from Assam was declared the strongest women of Northeast India under 65+ kg category while Linda Sitlhov from Assam secured the second place; under 65 kg category, Binti Borah from Assam was declared as the strongest women of Northeast India while Basapi and Gangutri Borah, both from Assam, secured 1st and 2nd runner-up respectively.
The main event consisted of tyre flipping (80 feet), front hold (maximum time) and deadlift (maximum repetition) exercises, with the weight and task depending on the athlete's body weight.
While there were three competitions for women --flipping (60 feet), front hold (maximum time), deadlift (maximum repetition) under 65 kg and open categories. In addition to the main competition, there were also three side competitions which included tug-of-war between gyms, car pulling, and food-eating competition.
