Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) will be organising the 1st inter-tribes students’ badminton tournament on April 14 and 15.
An update on Tuesday said that the tournament would be held on the theme, "Oneness through Sports" at the State Stadium. It said that Johny Raungmei , OSD, NSDM would be the special guest.
“Through this sports tournament which will be open to all the tribes living in Dimapur irrespective of their affiliations, the TSUD hopes to instil a sense of oneness, harmony and solidarity amongst the students in particular and all the citizens of Dimapur. By this kind of activities, we would like to encourage students/ youths to promote healthy lifestyle and disengage them from vices like drug/liquor addiction, etc to build a better society,” it read.
The tournament would consist of two categories -- singles and double -- for both for men and women. Entry will be open only for students with valid identity cards and their names should be forwarded only through their respective unions, it said.
The first prize for doubles would be INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 for singles, while the first runners- up would receive INR 10,000 and INR 5000 respectively.
It informed that forms would be issued from TSUD office at TUD complex from March 24 onwards, while the last date for submission of entries will be April 5.
