
Dignitaries during the golden jubilee of Tsieyama Nuolhou
Kehou in Jotsoma village on Tuesday.
- KOHIMA — The
Tsieyama Nuolhou Kehou (Tsieyama khel under Jotsoma) on Tuesday celebrated its
50th years of existence on the theme “Noupuo Kropuo” at Jotsoma village council
hall. Tsieyama Nuolhou Kehou was formed in 1975.
- Addressing the gathering, Khunyü Rino, former PA to DC
Kohima and former chairman of Tsieyama khel said, “Our forefathers, through
their wisdom had made friends with various communities and villages, both
neighbouring and afar."
- He stated that even in times of war “we have befriended each
other, helped, supported and have maintained cordial relations from time
immemorial,” an updatee from the oganisation stated.
- “We swore to defend each other and likewise we have heard of
stories where we protected each other during war times,” he added saying “We
may be a small khel but your friendship and good wish is something we proud
about.”
- “We are at a crossroad where the present generation is
losing touch with our past and therefore through this celebration we want to
let the cordial relations be renewed and revitalised with you all and also let
our children know the friendship we have with you all,” Rino said.
- Also speaking on the occasion, Seyielhuzo Medoze, former
general secretary Jotsoma village council, thanked all the friendly communities
and villages that have come forward to be part of the celebration.
- “We have to revisit the roots and ways we have built our
relations and help preserve it through records,” he said.
- Speaking on behalf of the younger generations, Visako Rino,
councilor of Medziphema Town Council (MTC) said, “We are the connecting point
and today is our time to learn our stories, ask from your elders. We also have
to preserve our language-Tenyidie.”
- Earlier, the golden jubilee monolith stone was dedicated by
Rev. Fr. Dr. Pezalhoukho George Rino, while the convenor of organising
committee, Neivikolie Medoze, delivered the welcome address and Pekruyabi Rino,
pastor of CRC Jotsoma, said an invocation prayer.
