ATMA Tseminyu organises farmers’ exposure visit to ‘Banana Festival’ in Wokha district.

DIMAPUR — The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Tseminyu district, organised a farmers’ exposure visit on October 23, where a team of 19 farmers, accompanied by an ATMA official, attended the ‘Banana Festival’ in Wokha district.
The team attended a technical session on the topic ‘Advance post harvest management, processing and value addition technologies for circular economy in banana,’ a DIPR report stated.
The resource person, Dr. KN Shiva, Principal Scientist at ICAR-NRCB, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of bananas, post-harvest management, and value-added products derived from the fruit, stem, and leaves.

The session was highly informative for the participants. The farmers also benefited from visiting various stalls, gaining knowledge about different banana varieties, banana fibre extraction, and its innovative uses, such as crafting bags and baskets.
“Overall the program was a success and a valuable experience for all the participants,” it stated.
