Remember your one word for the year? I trust you had time to
choose your one word. (see last week’s article for understanding the one Word
365 concept)
Since my word for this year is “Glory”, I will expound on it
a bit more today so you have an idea how to expound on yours.
This word Glory has been going through my mind for quite a
few years. It intrigued me, it touched me every time I read it and I definitely
wanted it to be part of my life.
The verses that always stood out to me were:
Look at the splendour of your skies, your creative genius
glowing in the heavens. When I gaze at your moon and your stars, mounted like
jewels in their settings, I know you are the fascinating artist who fashioned
it all! But when I look up and see such wonder and workmanship above, I have to
ask you this question Compared to all this cosmic glory, why would you bother
with puny, mortal man or be infatuated with Adam’s sons? Yet what honour you
have given to men, created only a little lower than Elohim, crowned like kings
and queens with glory and magnificence. You have delegated to them mastery over
all you have made, making everything subservient (obedient) to their authority,
placing earth itself under the feet of your image-bearers. (Psa 8:3-6)
There is a cosmic heavenly glory. Different each night. In
psalm 19 it describes how beautifully He paints the sky each night. Yet, the
glory and honour is given to us mortal men. Authority over the earth to show
this honour and glory is given to us. What am I doing with that? I can either
bury it, neglect it or use it.
If though I believe and embrace I am His image bearer, I
will do everything I can to display that glory and honour on this earth.
John – Jesus closest disciple – said it like this:
And so the Living Expression (the Word) became a man and
lived among us! And we gazed upon the splendour of his glory, the glory of the
One and Only who came from the Father overflowing with tender mercy and truth!
Joh 1:14
They gazed! You only gaze when it is almost too wonderful to
even look at. You are in awe and wonder.
Jesus displayed God’s glory and spoke about it every second
of His life. How? He taught it, preached it, spoke of it, demonstrated it
through signs, wonders, miracles and his interactions with the people whether
close ones, far away ones or onlookers only.
We can and should do the same-not just talk about it but
demonstrate it.
Just before he knew He was going to be taken in and be
crucified He prayed:
John 17:4I have
glorified you on the earth by faithfully doing everything you’ve told me to
do.So my Father, restore me back to the
glory that we shared together when we were face-to-face before the universe was
created.”
If we want that same restoration, we should glorify- honour-
the Father like Jesus did. He did everything the Father wanted Him to do and
did not do anything that would displease His Father. He was faithful to all God
told Him to do. I ask myself then: Am I faithful with all I have been entrusted
with?
Another amazing scripture is:
Heb 1:3 The Son is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendour,
the exact expression of God’s true nature—his mirror image! He holds the
universe together and expands it by the mighty power of his spoken word. He
accomplished for us the complete cleansing of sins, and then took his seat on
the highest throne at the right hand of the majestic One.
This is amazing. He made the universe through the Word
(Jesus). He holds it together by His Word (Jesus) and He continues to expand
the universe through the Word (again Jesus! Jesus IS the Word)
What kind of nature am I displaying? My old one or the New
born again one?
When people see me can they see Him radiated? Am I radiating
and expressing God’s nature or my old nature?
What about this one?
2Co 3:18 We can all draw close to him with the veil removed
from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly
reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very
image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious
transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
What am I mirroring? Ever realized that couples who are long
time married seem to start looking like each other? If I look at Him (His Word)
I will surely more and more look like Him! And will have that similar look of
Glory that Moses had when He came from the mountain after spending those 80
days with God Himself or like Jesus when He was on earth.
Then I can say with Paul!
My only boast is in the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus, our
Messiah. In him I have been crucified to this natural realm; and the natural
realm is dead to me and no longer dominates my life. (Gal 6:14)
Within us is a treasure chest of glory- full of hope that
others can tap into to if I let them. He has an expectation of me. An
expectation of displaying the Father’s glory and His glory to His people, all
those that claim they are His followers
Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the
expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a
heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people,
and God wants everyone to know it! Col 1:27
Here a prayer you can say over yourself and others. Take it
as your very own!
May he work perfection into every part of you giving you all
that you need to fulfill your destiny. And may he express through you all that
is excellent and pleasing to him through your life-union with Jesus the
Anointed One who is to receive all glory forever! Amen! Heb 13:21
Now you know what you can do with your one word. Here some
questions to help you get started.
1.Do I
understand my word in Godly Biblical context?
2.Is that
word taking me where it should? (Which is to play my part in God’s plan of
completion for this earth)
3.Is it
making me in what I should be according to what He wrote in His book He wrote
about me according to Psalm 139:16?You
saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light
of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your
book.
Be part of His wonderful glory. It will be worth it all when
we finally get to see Him!
