AGARTALA, DECEMBER 2
Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar is making an attempt to win the confidence of Congress supporters ahead of the civic polls slated for December 9.
While addressing two election rallies at Kumarghat and Kailashahar in North Tripura, Sarkar advised dissident Congress leaders and workers not to shift their allegiance to BJP, instead they must consider CPM as an alternative.
Flaying both Congress and BJP, he alleged that though ideologically different, the two parties were two sides of the same coin. Both the parties are pursuing anti-poor policies and protecting the interest of the corporate.
“It is now clear why the Modi-led Union government is attacking the secular fabrics of India and mounting an assault on century-old tradition of communal harmony just to divert the attention of the people from price hike of essential commodities,” Sarkar stated.
He said Narendra Modi was voted to power for his slogan of achhey din (good days) but even after 19 months of coming to power, the situation has remained unchanged, rather deteriorated in all respects.
Attacks on minorities have increased many folds, prices of essential commodities have increased and governance at the Centre has slowed down as all files have to passed through the Prime Minister’s office and the country’s development has been affected.
“Modi has been making foreign trips using public funds only for personal gratification and his external affairs minister is sitting idle in Delhi. No ministry can function independently because of the unrealistic unwritten protocol of Modi, which ultimately hindering development,” Sarkar added. He, however, pointed out that the Centre had failed to keep the promises to convert black money stashed in the foreign countries into white within 100 days.
He also warned the voters against seeking the saffron’s party’s shelter as the party has no future in the state and country as well. The party is working only for strengthening the RSS and has not spared a thought on development issues.
