In the amateur category, two young female fighters will compete for the first time in Tribe Fighting Championship 2, with Petevino Suokhrie from Nagaland set to face Daniella Mylliemngap from Meghalaya.
They had previously fought to a draw, leaving what they described as “unfinished business”, which will be settled on October 10. The amateur K1 event will feature Hisato Ayemi from Nagaland against Fleming Thanglen from Manipur, while in the amateur MMA bout, Imkummendang will fight Thangu Mili from Arunachal Pradesh.
During the pre-fight press conference and face-off held at Zone Niathu by The Park, Khriemelie Metha stated that this is the second edition of the Tribe Fighting Championship, powered by Niathu Hotels and Resorts.
Metha shared that there will be eight fights on October 10, including three amateur bouts and five professional bouts, all featuring Nagaland fighters against opponents from other states — Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Telangana, Punjab, and Manipur.
When asked how this edition differs from the first, Metha explained that while the previous event mainly featured amateur fights to train athletes for professional competition, this year’s edition boasts a stronger lineup of professional fighters.
He highlighted the co-main event, noting that Sandeep Baghel from Telangana is an accomplished fighter and that bringing him to Nagaland had been a long-term goal. Metha also mentioned that the main event competitor, Gurtej Singh from Punjab, is a well-known fighter who has previously competed in Matrix Fight Night (MFN), one of India’s leading MMA promotions.
Regarding the main event, Neitso Angami said this will be his first time facing Gurtej Singh. He expressed gratitude to Tribe FC for the main event opportunity, calling it a chance to test himself against a high-level opponent. Having watched Singh’s past victories in MFN, Angami said he is determined to rise to the challenge “in flying colours”.
The Tribe Fighting Championship 2 will feature eight bouts across amateur and professional categories. Amateur fights will consist of three rounds of three minutes each with shin pads, while professional bouts will have five rounds of five minutes each.
Tickets are available online at Ahibi.in and can also be purchased at the venue on October 10. Metha cautioned that tickets may sell out quickly and urged interested individuals to purchase them early.
