Diphu, June 29 (EMN): In order to safeguard the tribal students and youths of Karbi Anglong , tribal organizations of Karbi Anglong district was constituted on Wednesday, ‘Students and Youth Co-ordination Committee (SYCC). The organisation was formed for the protection of the rights of the tribal students and youths of the district, informed in a press statement issued by its convenors, Phenpiga Rengma, Dhiraj Diphusa and Bijoy Bey.
The statement stated that various tribal organizations came together in one umbrella and formed on 27 June 2017 in order to safeguard the rights of the tribal students and youths of Karbi Anglong.’ After formation of the tribal student’s organisation, a meeting was held and discussed among the students leaders over the controversial issue of reservation policy in Diphu Government College (DGC) and the newly floated tribal organisation demanded that the admission at the college should be made as per the guidelines and procedures being followed since its establishment.
SYCC also reiterated that the same has been issued by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on June 27, 2017 through the notice Vide No. KAAC/Edn. (Higher) Misc/2012-13/Pt-II.
SYCC stated their demands points that the DGC authority need to follow the guidelines as per the established policy since its establishment and immediate discussions between KAAC authority and Principal Diphu Government College should hold for immediate meeting for to bring out permanent solution. The tribal student’s organisation warned the authority that if their demands are not met at the earliest they may go for vigorous protest and if any untoward incident took place, the principal of DGC will be held responsible for his ill-will towards ST (H) students, report stated.
