Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): There are as many as 39 ongoing projects being implemented by the state’s Tribal Affairs department through grants-in-aid under provision to Article 275(1) of the constitution of India, informed Project Officer of the department, Imsumeren on Monday.
He said this while presenting different schemes implemented by the department during the one-day Media Workshop Vartalap organised by PIB Nagaland on the theme “Improving information dissemination in Nagaland”, at Niathu Resort conference Hall.
The officer said that there are 20 ongoing projects under Special Central Assistance (SCA) to Tribal Sub Schemes (TSS). The “Adarsh Gram” (model village) scheme is yet to implement, but proposal has been sent to MoTA under the new guidelines, it was informed.
The projects under SCA to TSS include Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), initiated with an objective to provide quality education to ST students in remote areas in line with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV). There are three functional EMRS at present and another 19 EMRS sanctioned by the MoTA for the state, he said.
Another scheme -- Grants-in-aid to NGOs and Voluntary Organisation working for the welfare of ST, with an objective to reach the welfare schemes of Government through the efforts of these organisations -- is not implemented yet but under consideration to implement from the financial year 2022-23, he added.
Other schemes implemented by the Tribal Affair department include support to Tribal Research Institute (TRI) and Livelihood.
Tribal Affairs department was created on August 4, 2019 by bifurcating from planning department, with an objective to oversee and ensure effective implementation of various Tribal Welfare Schemes and activities undertaken by the ministry of Tribal Affairs, said Imsumeren.
Assistant District Programme Manager of Rural Development Department, Yimok Phom said that there are six blocks, 213 villages, 12452 households mobilised into Deen Dayal Antyodaya – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) SHGs, 1344 SHGs, 114 Village-Level Organisations (VOs), and five cluster level forums (CLFs) in Dimapur district.
She also said, while giving a presentation under NSRLM Dimapur district, that 14 PGs were promoted, 479 SHG members mobilised into PGs, 2591 mahila kisans covered under AEP interventions, 2584 mahila kisan house hold having agri nutri garden, 48 custom hiring centres established, and 2413 enterprise promoted under SVEP.
Phom updated that under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Dimapur district, a total of 0.75 lakh job cards had been issued, out of which 0.73 lakh are active job cards; and out of 1.48 lakh total workers, 1.03 lakh are active workers.
Seyie Solo, EAC of Chumoukedima, was the special guest, and Dimapur Press Club (DPC) president Temjenrenba Anichar and general Secretary Among Aier were special invitees of the programme.
Solo, speaking on the topic ‘Social Welfare Schemes being taken up in Chumoukedima’, stressed on various schemes including right to education, work, village development programme, targeted public distribution system, and others. He also asked the media persons to be responsible journalists and help in sensitising and spreading information about various schemes to the common people.
He further spoke about responsible and ethical journalism, and the need to distinguish between facts and opinions.
