DIMAPUR — Dimapur traffic personnel on Saturday conducted a trial run for heavy vehicles with six wheels or more, including 16-wheelers, along National Highway at chainage 127.
The exercise began around 4 pm after the completion of road-widening works at the location.
According to officials, the works included debris clearance, removal of medians, dividers and crash barriers, after which the left-hand side of the stretch was opened to facilitate the movement of trailers and other heavy vehicles.
The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is expected to provide technical and safety clearance following the trial.

However, as of Sunday, Dimapur traffic police said they had not yet received the NHIDCL’s technical report, which is required before such vehicles can be officially allowed to ply on the route.
The trial was aimed at assessing the feasibility of heavy vehicles navigating the stretch after the widening works.
