The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has stipulated ‘Parking’ and ‘No Parking’ zones as well as one-ways in capital town Kohima. The RTA issued a notification on Thursday.
The notification was issued by chairman of the RTA Rovilatuo Mor, on November 26.
According to the changes, vehicles shall be allowed to be parked only on one side, i.e., on the valley side of the road, in the following locations and routes. Census Directorate junctions via Hotel Legacy towards the exit near High School junctions: Vehicles are allowed parking only on the right side of the road wherever permitted.
NSF Martyrs’ Park junction via Bethel Hospital to PHQ junction: Vehicles are allowed parking only on the left side of the road wherever permitted.
Mhonkhola-AG junction towards BSNL office via SDO PHE office: vehicles are allowed parking only on the right side of the road wherever permitted.
AIR to old/new Minister Hill road: Vehicles are allowed to be parked only on the left side of the road wherever permitted.
Also, vehicles shall be allowed to be parked only on one side, i.e., on the hill side of the road in the following locations/routes. Upper Paramedical Colony junction towards Ladys Mile Road via Mizo Church below Red Cross building: vehicles are allowed parking only on the left side of the road wherever permitted.
New Market via Pentecostal Church towards NSF junction: Vehicles are allowed parking only on the left side of the road wherever allowed.
No-Parking shall be applied on both side of the roads on the following stretch of routes between 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M on all government working days: Fira Hotel junction to Paramedical Colony existing at NH-29.
Vehicles shall not be allowed to proceed towards NSF Martyrs Park from PHQ junction via Bethel Hospital. No entry rules to be applied, the notification stated.
The RTA’s notification stated that the rules will be brought into force with immediate effect and any vehicles found violating these rules shall be towed away by the Traffic Police and the cost of which including penalties shall be borne by the owner of the concerned vehicle.
The notification further informed all concerned that as and when checking is carried out defaulters would be penalized as per law and “the ignorance or non pre-information of the same shall not be taken as an excuse,” the notice added.
