Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): In collaboration with the Rubber Board Regional office, Dimapur, the department of Land Resource, Peren conducted four-day training from Jan. 9-12 on scientific rubber tapping and processing. Updates from the department informed about the programme.
The training was conducted at Lilen village for IEMP-1 (Batch-1) villages covering Lilen, Phijol, Vongkithem, Inbung, Peihang, Bongkolong, New Beisumpui and New Chalkot.
Resource person, Arup Goigoi from Rubber Board Regional office, demonstrated scientific methods of rubber tapping ad processing to rubber growers and participants. The trainings were exposed to first time hands-on-practise with tools and equipments that are required for tapping and processing.
On the concluding day, President of Kuki INPI L Gangte attended the valedictory function as guest of honour.
Gangte in his speech stressed on the need to minimise the practise of jhum cultivation as it will not prolong in the future but take up plantation such as rubber and commercial crops for the sustainability.
He thanked farmers for the contributing to the society and reminded them the important roles they play in socio- economic development.
Altogether 31 trainees from eight villages attended the training.
