DIMAPUR — To revitalise efforts towards promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding practices through health systems to achieve higher breastfeeding rates, the District Health Society, Mon conducted two-day training on Mothers’ Absolute Affection (MAA) on June 4 and the 5th at CMO conference hall, Mon.
According to an update, the training session began with Dr. Wungyong, DPO (RCH and UIP) speaking on topics including optimal infant and young child feeding; production and intake of breastmilk; assessing and observing breastfeeding; building confidence, giving support and checking understanding; antenatal preparation and establishing community breastfeeding support.
Dr. Nyamnyei, medicine specialist at DH Mon, shared insights on positioning a baby during breastfeeding, breast condition, refusal to breastfeeding and crying, nutrition of lactating mothers, their health and fertility and breastfeeding by working mothers.
Dr. Chimang Paul, paediatrician, DH Mon, spoke on topics including not enough milk, complementary feeding, foods to fill the nutrient gap, feeding techniques and strategies and growth monitoring and measuring.
