Training on management of rainbow rooster held in Peren

DIMAPUR — The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaland University, Zunheboto, conducted input distribution programme on Feb. 23 under the tribal community development project at Beisumpuikam village in Peren district.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, principal scientist and PI of the project, conducted training programme on production and management of rainbow rooster, an update stated.

“These birds are dual purpose breeds which have good growth rate and have good production potential. These birds can be reared in both intensive and semi- intensive system and fetches a premium price in the market as it resembles to local birds. The farmers were trained on how to go for poultry farming and various management practices involved in raising the birds from brooding to marketing along with disease management,” it stated.

After the programme, 54 farmers were distributed day-old rainbow rooster chicks and poultry feeds so that they can learn by doing and latter take up poultry as an enterprise.

Earlier, the welcome speech was delivered by Wapangtoshi Longkumer, chief technical officer.
