DIMAPUR — A three-day workshop on inclusive
assessments organised by Nagaland Education Project–The Lighthouse (NECTAR)
under the department of School Education, in collaboration with Nagaland Board
of School Education (NBSE), got underway on Wednesday at Mt. Tabor Retreat
Centre, Kohima.
An update from the department stated that the training
included expert resource persons from Educational Initiatives (Ei), the
external agency onboarded for the exam reforms component under NECTAR project.
The workshop would focus on capacity building of various
stakeholders for strengthening inclusive assessment practices in Nagaland.
On the first day, teachers learned about inclusivity and
accessibility in school and board examinations, including how to create
question items that allow students with diverse abilities to effectively show what
they have learnt.
The second day would consist of capacity building of
inclusive education coordinators and inclusive education resource persons (IE
RPs) under Samagra Shiksha on understanding inclusive assessments and on
supporting children with special needs in availing support from their schools
for school exams as well as accommodations allowed by NBSE for board
examinations.
The third day would focus on capacity building of officials
from NBSE, DoSE, SCERT, Samagra Shiksha, ANPSA and CEDOK on system level
understanding of inclusive assessments and how the state of Nagaland could move
forward in making assessments/ examinations more accessible for children with
special needs and thereby make education more inclusive.
