
Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): A series of training on Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) was conducted in Longjang, Longpha, and Khanimu villages under Kubolong block in Mokokchung district on November 5 and 6.
The training was initiated under the project for creating clusters of model gram panchayats to achieve holistic and sustainable development through institutional strengthening of gram panchayats and enablement of quality GPDP across India, a DIPR report stated.
The training programme was held in coordination with the National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD & PR), Ministry of Rural Panchayati Raj (MoPR).
The training on Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2023-2024 and the localisation of sustainable development goals was conducted by R Supongtula, deployed in the block.
Supongtula emphasised on people’s participation in decision-making to bring holistic, quality, and sustainable development in the village and also highlighted on the process and plan cycle of GPDP. She further dwelled on the nine thematic aspects of localising SDGs and preparing thematic and quality GPDP.
The training also included group activities for the villagers to have hands-on experience in preparing Gram Panchayat Development Plan.
The next phase of training would be conducted in the project GPs of Mopungchuket, Sungratsu, Chami, and Yimchlu villages in the coming week, it informed.
