
Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): With an objective to effectively manage disaster, a 12-day training on emergency operation and search and rescue for a new batch of ‘Aapda-Mitra’ (friends-in-disaster) and community first responder got underway days at Central Training Institute (CTI) of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, Toluvi, Dimapur.
The training is aimed at empowering the community volunteers with skills they would need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of disaster thereby enabling them to undertake basic relief and rescue and rescue tasks during emergency situations, an update from Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) stated.
The training is being organised NSDMA, in collaboration with Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF and with support from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Report stated that the training began on May 15 and would conclude on August 16. Till date, volunteers from Kiphire, Phek, Longleng and Peren have completed their training, the release added.
