- DIMAPUR — The
National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) and National Tobacco Control Programme
(NTCP), Wokha division, conducted a one-day training-cum-awareness programme on
dental health for ASHA workers, school/ community leaders on February 15 at the
conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO) in Wokha town.
- An update from the CMO, Wokha, stated that the programme
commenced with a welcome address delivered by Oponthung Kinghen, consultant of
Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Wokha. He spoke on the role and
responsibility of Mahila Arogya Samiti (MAS) during monthly health activities
conducted in the urban area and expressed hoped that MAS members would benefit
from the training-cum-awareness programme.
- Dr. Thungroni Kikon, dental surgeon at UPHC, Wokha, stressed
on the early examination and detection of cavities, brushing and flossing
techniques, prevention and management of common oral health conditions.
- Meanwhile, the CMO of Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, has
expressed gratitude to NOHP and NTCP team for organising the programme. He also
encouraged ASHA members and community leaders to create awareness on oral
health in at their respective wards and colonies.
