Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has appealed to the public to follow basic waste management practices at home during “this” period of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and help reduce its impact.

Sanitary workers don’t have the privilege of working from home, and have to work to support their families and keep the city clean, the council said in a statement on Saturday. “Waste management cannot stop, it needs to keep running despite the unfortunate times of Covid-19,” it read.

KMC has therefore directed the citizens to dispose of wastes like tissues, sanitiser bottles, masks etc. consciously. It has also asked to reduce domestic waste generation and use reusable dispensers for liquid soap, sanitisers etc. Further, segregation of waste has been advised, and “ensure minimum garbage and maximum recycling,” read the statement.
