Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): The department of Agriculture conducted a training programme on Custom Hiring Centres (CHC) Farm Machinery Mobile App and Registration big CHC/Service provider under SMAM” for TOTs (training of trainers) at directorate conference hall in Kohima, on Friday.
An update from the department informed that the director of Agriculture, M Ben Yanthan said while addressing the gathering that “agricultural land is limited but the demand for food is ever increasing due to population growth.” He added that to increase productivity in the limited land in order to meet the increasing demand is a very important mission.
While stating that agricultural machinery plays an important role in increasing productivity of a given area, Yanthan informed that the state farm power is way below National average of 2.02 kW/ha, as on 2018-19 the farm power availability in Nagaland is only 0.650 Kw/ha.”
With the intervention of Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM) the state is promoting the usage of farm mechanisation in a bigger way, informed the department of Agriculture.
The main objectives of the mission, according to Agriculture department are:
(1) lncreasing the reach of farm mechanisation to small and marginal farmers and to the regions where availability of farm power is low
(2) Promoting ‘Custom Hiring Centres’ to offset the adverse economies of scale arising due to small landholding and high cost of individual ownership
(3) Creating hubs for hi-tech and high value farm equipments
(4) Creating awareness among stakeholders through demonstration and capacity building
(5) Ensuring performance testing and certification at designated testing centres located all over the country.
CHC Agri. Machinery mobile app
The government of India has launched “CHC Agri Machinery” mobile app on full scale and all the states has been directed for registration of CHC/FMB (farm machinery bank) under component and service provider, informed the update from Agriculture department. This Mobile app will not only geo tag the machine but will also provide a platform to all farmers to book machine for hiring from their location or village area covering a radius of 5sq.km, 10 sq.km, 50,sq.km.
It informed that a good number of CHC and Service provider has been established by the Agriculture department under SMAM and more than 4000 agri. machineries and equipment under SMAM, NFSM, RKVY, NMOOP MOVCD, PMKSY through Aspirational districts etc. have been distributed by the department till date. It added that all these agri. machineries, both CHC and Individual farmers i.e. Service providers, should be registered in the “CHC Agri Machinery” mobile app.
The beneficiaries of agri. machineries like tractor, power tiller, paddy thresher, power tiller, brush cutter, rice and maize mill, water pump, auger and power weeder provided under various programmes should get registered with the app. The update also informed that “the future allocation of the any Agri machinery & equipment under various schemes will be linked on the basis of the registration of beneficiaries of their jurisdiction in the ‘CHC Agri Machinery’ Mobile app with geo reference photographed and machinery photo uploaded in the apps.”
The participants of the training programme have been asked to train the beneficiaries on how to use CHC Agri Machinery mobile app.
