- DIMAPUR — A
three-day training programme on "Backyard poultry farming with improved
germplasm and management practices" was inaugurated on Wednesday at the
College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, Peren.
- According to an update, it was conducted under the aegis of
the NEH scheme, funded by ICAR-Central Avian Research Institute,
Izatnagar-243122. The training programme is being attended by 35 participants
from Old Jalukie, Jalukie-B, Jalukie, and Samziuram villages.
- During interactions with the participants in the inaugural
session, they shared the challenges they face in accessing improved poultry
germplasm, breeds, varieties, and essential inputs such as feed, vaccination,
and healthcare for their birds and animals in their respective villages.
- Speaking at the inaugural function, the chief guest, Dr. I
Shakuntala, dean of the college, urged the participants to adopt scientific
poultry farming and management practices.
- She stressed that such practices would not only increase
farmers' income but also help bridge the gap between supply and demand for meat
and eggs in the state.
