Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan has concluded its 15-day ‘national youth volunteers training’ programme. Medo Yhokha, public relations officer to the speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, was the special guest for the concluding function, a press release to the media on Monday from the NYK stated.
Interacting with participants at Kigwema in Kohima, Yhokha urged them to ‘learn to embrace each other, coming over and above narrow tribal thinking and politics.’
“Ism is a factor that has dragged and pulled Nagas back and down for so long. As we brace up to face the dawn of a new situation, with the Naga political process coming to its logical conclusion, the youths of today have to learn to manoeuvre the situation to the best of what the situation will present, keeping in focus the larger interest of our society and the Nagas inclusively,” he said.
Among the numerous other intricacies, problems and challenges that the Naga society is facing today, environmental issues also present another important challenge.
'We are no longer alien to the global effects, citing few examples of global happenings. If we want to continue to live and survive together, we have to take individual and collective responsibilities, to help redress and mitigate the impending issues,' the updates stated.
“It's not the end, if, from today onwards make collective efforts caring for the environment we live with, we still can reverse the situation for ourselves and for posterity. As youth volunteers and enlightened youths, let us all take the calls as we together endeavour on to create and bequeath a better and safer place for ourselves and future generations to come.”
