DIMAPUR — A one-day district level training for nurses of the district hospital, CHC, PHCS and HWCs/SC on Social Awareness and Action to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) was held at the CMO conference hall, Longleng, on Tuesday.

Aier highlighted the two-fold strategy of SAANS, which is capacity building for all health workers and ASHAs to assess, classify and treat pneumonia successfully and to increase awareness on pneumonia in the community.
Resource person Dr. Lingshau James imparted to the participants the overview of SAANS programme, pneumonia assessment, classification and management protocol for children and management of pneumonia/possible serious bacterial infection (PSBI) in young infants (0-59 days), followed by pre-test and post-test for the trainees.
