Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): A weeklong training for zoo keepers of Northeast India on theme “Northeast regional zoo keepers training on management of captive wildlife” culminated on Saturday at State Forestry and Environment Training Institute (SEFTI), Dimapur.
The training was sponsored by Central Zoo Authority (CZA), New Delhi and organised by Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar from Nov. 20 to 25.
The chief guest of the programme closing programme, Secretary Environment Forest & Climate Change Imtienla, deliberated on the importance of Zoo Keepers in Management of zoos. She also stressed on the need for preservation of wildlife. She said zoos can be the last option to preserve threatened and endangered animals.
Guest of honour Director State Environment and Forestry Training Institute Dimapur Hukato Chishti reminded the trainees that zoo Keepers are the eyes and ears of the entire zoo. He also reminded them that zoo Keepers play a critical role in saving animal species and said that all zoo keepers around the world work towards one common goal of saving wildlife of this world.
The closing programme was chaired by Officer In-Charge Nagaland Zoological Park Obed Bohovi Swu, while vote of thanks was proposed by Director of the park Sentichuba Aier.
