Three-day training for Census 2027 Phase I begins in Churachandpur to strengthen field preparedness and accurate data collection.

IMPHAL — A three-day district-level training programme for Census 2027 Phase I (House Listing and Housing Census – HLO) commenced on Wednesday at the District Panchayat Resources Centre, Churachandpur.
The programme is jointly organised by the Directorate of Census Operations, Manipur and the district administrations of Churachandpur and Pherzawl under the guidance of their respective principal census officers (PCOs).
Welcoming the participants, Mannuamching, Deputy Commissioner and PCO of Pherzawl district, highlighted the importance of the exercise, stressing that charge-level officers must clearly understand census procedures, effectively use digital tools, and be fully aware of their responsibilities.

Dharun Kumar S, Deputy Commissioner and PCO of Churachandpur, highlighted that thorough training and field-level preparedness are critical to ensuring accurate data collection and smooth census operations. He urged participants to make the most of the training sessions and called for close coordination between sub-divisional officers and staff.
The sessions are being led by Joseph Lanah, Deputy Director, Directorate of Census Operations, Manipur, and Nijhar Ojha, DPA (Circle-A).
The training aims to strengthen the capacity of district and charge officers by covering basic census concepts and definitions, along with hands-on orientation on digital platforms such as the Census Management and Monitoring System, House Listing Block Creator web application, and the HLO mobile application.
These tools will be used by enumerators during Phase I to collect data across 33 census parameters.
