
DIMAPUR — A three-day intensive training programme for animal health service providers of Angetyongpang area, organised by Angetyongpang Development Board (ADB), in collaboration with the office of the Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung, concluded on November 25 at the conference hall of the State Poultry Farm in Mokokchung town.

Speaking at the valedictory programme, the chief veterinary officer, Dr. BM Sunep, informed that the training was a first of its kind in the state where an elected legislator took the initiative to impart technical training for the farmers under his constituency. With the frequent occurrences of economically dreaded diseases like African Swine Fever and Classical Swine Fever, he underlined the necessity to have animal health service provider in each village.
He was of the opinion that such training would help the youth gain self employment and also enable them start their own livestock farming in a much better way, stated a DIPR report.
ADB member of Mokokchung unit, Imlitoshi Walling, thanked the department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Mokokchung, for imparting practical knowledge to the trainees.
Alinungsang, while sharing experience on behalf of the trainees, expressed gratitude to the organisers for providing an opportunity to attend such training.
The resources rersons for the three-day training programme were Dr. Watitoshi, VAS, and Dr. Nemjemyanger, FM.
Report mentioned that the noble venture of forming ADB was the brain child of Tongpang Ozukum, advisor of Water Resource, with the vision to uplift the economic conditions of the people through various training programmes. It added that a total of 42 persons from the area attended the training. It further informed that the trainees would provide services in their respective village and ward under the active supervision of the Veterinary department.
