The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appreciated police action against alleged extortionists and urged authorities to ensure a safe business environment during the festive season.
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has appreciated the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, and the police department for their efforts in apprehending alleged extortionists and anti-social elements, which it said had created unrest in the district in recent months.
In a press release, the DCCI expressed confidence that the police would continue to maintain peace and security in Dimapur with the same dedication and commitment.
The chamber said disturbances had affected the business community’s ability to carry out normal activities and operate without disruption.
It urged the authorities to extend necessary support to ensure businesses can function without fear or interruption.
The DCCI further called for immediate legal action against anyone involved in anti-social or unlawful activities, stating that “no one is above the law.”
Extending its cooperation to law enforcement agencies, the chamber also urged the authorities to remain vigilant and proactive during the festive season, when, it said, law-and-order situations tend to become more sensitive.
The DCCI appealed to anti-social elements to desist from unlawful and disruptive activities and maintain peace and harmony in Dimapur.
